DFRobot SEN0206 Non-contact Infrared Temperature Sensor MLX90614 High Precision Probe
In general, temperature measurement can be divided into contact and non-contact types. Contact temperature measurement can only measure the temperature of the measured object and the temperature sensor after reaching thermal equilibrium, so the response time is long and it is highly susceptible to the influence of ambient temperature. Infrared temperature measurement is based on the infrared radiation energy of the measured object to determine the temperature of the object, without contact with the measured object, does not affect the temperature field of the measured object, and has high temperature resolution, fast response speed, and good stability. In recent years, non-contact infrared temperature measurement has been widely used in medical treatment, environmental monitoring, home automation, automotive electronics, aviation and military.
DFRobot’s latest MLX90614 infrared temperature measurement module detects the surface temperature of an object by detecting the magnitude and wavelength distribution of the infrared radiation energy of the object. The infrared thermometer consists of an optical system, a photodetector, a signal amplifier, and signal processing and output. The optical system converges the infrared radiation energy of the target in its field of view. The size of the field of view is determined by the optical parts of the thermometer and its position. The infrared energy is focused on the photodetector and converted into a corresponding electrical signal. The signal is converted into the temperature value of the measured target after being corrected by the algorithm and target emissivity in the instrument. The MLX90614 comes with factory calibration and uses an advanced low-noise amplifier, a 17-bit ADC, and powerful DSP components in the signal conditioning chip to achieve high-precision temperature measurement.
