NexArm is a high-performance open-source AI robotic arm from Hiwonder. Built on ESP32, it offers a full-stack solution from low-level hardware to end-to-end large AI model validation workflows, designed for AI education and embodied intelligence research. With deep LeRobot integration, NexArm can directly access a wide range of models, datasets, and simulation environments on Hugging Face. It works with Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson, and PCs with discrete GPUs, making it easy to run end-to-end algorithms such as ACT and complete the workflow from virtual simulation to real-world deployment.
NexArm supports a Leader-Follower teleoperation system with a leader arm and a follower arm, purpose-built for imitation learning and VLA model development. It synchronously captures multi-channel HD video from the end-effector first-person view and the global third-person view, helping build multi-dimensional training datasets with full scene coverage.
NexArm features an industrial-grade all-metal body, high-precision magnetic encoder servos in the core joints, a rotating pan-tilt unit, and a precision rail gripper, delivering an effective operating radius of up to 500 mm. Built-in inverse kinematics enables Cartesian coordinate control and advanced motion planning for precise, reliable grasping and trajectory execution. With open-source code, professional PC software, a mobile app, custom development examples, and structured tutorials, NexArm lowers the barrier to embodied intelligence development and brings AI ideas into real-world applications faster.
